While the rest of the world was busy riding out Covid 19, the Chelsea Rotary Core was hard at work (and fun!).

At the meetings (yes, we still have them via Zoom), we heard interesting and informative presentations on timely subjects.  Thank you, Lori.
Our own Julie Helber spoke of the challenges the Chelsea School District is facing and how they’re dealing with them. Thank you, Julie.
Dr. Alon Zadoc Weizer from St Joe’s Hospital updated us on progress in combating Covid 19 now and moving forward.  Thank you, Reilly.

Dave Gilbert remains actively involved with the Ann Arbor Rotary Peace Committee.  A Peace Pole event is planned for Gallup Park.  Looking forward, there will be another Peace in the Streets event in March of 2022.

I hope all have seen the Chelsea Rotary Club sign at the M-52 & I 94 State parking lot.
Our first clean-up will be the Week of April 17th to the 24th.  Dave will coordinate the Interact students and Kathy Hay will coordinate the volunteers. Dexter Rotary has agreed to assist in the clean-up, and we will assist them in a future project around Dexter. We also plan to have a gathering at the Conference Center post clean-up for food and beverages for all and it will be a good opportunity to meet the CHS Interact students who volunteer with the clean-up.
In the Show Me the Money category there is a lot to report:

Motown Soups sales remain strong.  We will have a sales table at the Dexter Winter Market on Saturday, March 20. with Spring and Summer events in the works.  Thank you, Kathy Hay for your delivery+ pick-up from Motown Soups.

As if her internationally recognized training company featured in recent articles is the Detroit Free Press and USA Today wasn’t enough, Megan Torrance found the time to connect Rotary with One Hope Winery.  This is a concept similar to Motown Soup in that a portion of the sales comes back to the Club.  The first tasting event was a clear success with more to follow. It appears that wine tasting is somewhat more fun that soup tasting.   It offers the opportunity to buy really nice wines at reasonable prices and help the Club at the same time.  Thank you, Megan

Another great opportunity comes from Nina donating her time and the money for professional photo sessions.  Please consider a spring session for your family and spread the word to your friends.  Thank you, Nina.

Cindy has come through with more money from the Run for the Rolls run/walk event her second fundraising event) plus donations from her clients.  Thank you, Cindy.

The upshot of all this creative and hard work is that we are pretty much on target to have sufficient funds to meet all of our scholarships and donations  for the year.  Thanks so much to all who are making it happen.  If anybody else has more ideas, bring them with to the meetings (yes, we are still having meetings)

Last and most important of all…WELCOME BACK, LORNA!!  You are the glue that holds us all together and we so glad you’re feeling better.
